What is Jev and what changes?
Unlike traditional LLMs that generate text token by token, Jev uses a “System One” architecture. This approach allows it to process contexts and return direct responses in milliseconds.
The fundamental change lies in the fact that Jev is not a generative model, but a decision engine. This eliminates the textual reasoning process, drastically optimizing response speed.
Extreme Speed and Efficiency
Technical results show that Jev is between 20 and 200 times faster than frontier language models. Latency is reduced to a range of 70 to 500 milliseconds per response.
In economic terms, the model is up to 400 times cheaper. Its structure allows input tokens to have a fixed cost, while output tokens are completely free.
The End of Text Generation
Jev was developed by Diogo Almeida, co-creator of ChatGPT, under the premise that prose is not always needed to act. The model receives data and returns typed options or probabilities.
This capability makes it ideal for classification tasks and recommendation engines. By not producing text, it avoids the unnecessary noise and ambiguity of generative responses.
Training via RLCD
The architecture is supported by an innovative technique called Reinforcement Learning for Calibrated Decisions (RLCD). This method trains the model to offer epistemically honest probabilities.
Thanks to RLCD, Jev can be integrated into automation systems where decision probability accuracy is critical. This allows developers to trust the agent’s decision.
Integration in AI Agents
The main intended use is to act as the “decision layer” within autonomous agent workflows. Jev can manage the small decisions that keep an agent operational.
This allows complex systems to use large models for reasoning and Jev for rapid actions. Integration is straightforward through its official SDK and API.
Limitations and Technical Scope
However, it is important to note that Jev cannot write code, emails, or articles. Its function is strictly limited to option selection and score assignment.
Additionally, its reasoning capability currently sits at a mid-tier model level. Therefore, it is not a substitute for complex or creative thinking tasks.
